“Why Artists Are Going Abstract: The Case of Stuart Davis” December 11, 2010 – January 29, 2011 Life Magazine was one of the most wide-reaching and influential popular media outlets in the United States during the 20th Century. Between 1936-1972, the publication regularly covered the visual arts, specifically the development of Modern Art in America. During this period, the magazine highlighted the emergence and development of geometric abstraction, Abstract Expressionism, and Minimalism.
