We are delighted to announce that gallery artist Gilbert Hsiao has received a Space Award from the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation. Selected from more than 1,000 applicants nationwide, Hsiao is one of 17 artists who will receive a free studio space starting this September in Dumbo, Brooklyn for a period of one year.
We would also like to congratulate additional awardees and friends of the gallery Kris Chatterson, Amy Feldman, and Douglas Melini, as well as all the other artist recipients. We look forward to having you as neighbors this fall.
Based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, The Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation was established in 1984 by Marie Walsh Sharpe, the culmination of her long-held dream of providing financial assistance to the very gifted in the visual arts. Ms. Sharpe charged the foundation with providing supplemental instruction to art students, through workshops and seminars, beyond that offered in the secondary schools. She also directed the foundation to offer assistance to gifted individual artists.
